Understanding the issue:
The problem is shown through invading privacy through Facebook and other accounts via Social Media, just as Cambridge Analytica did. This information was used for political purposes. everyone is calling for more privacy, some of which are inspired by the idea that companies should deal with our data with the same care that the bank treats our money. The current reality is man-made and we have the power to change it.
Your mobile apps are tracking you:
There are also applications installed on the mobile phone that send data about your identity, preferences or your actual location, as this is a big problem that is documented by new research. Invading privacy leaves people vulnerable. For this reason, I believe that steps and procedures should be taken to protect the privacy of online accounts accounts. From my point of view, there should be campaigns that raise awareness and tell what are the advantages and the disadvantages of each application. People should not give permission for any application to have access to the phone where personal information is.
Spotlight: Rethinking digital ads
This article is talking about application developers, insurance agents, data brokers, hackers and scammers who collect data about everything we do, and this is considered a violation of privacy. This article also talks about digital advertising, which is a blessing for the global economy. And that these ads are a major source of income.
I also knew that in this article that outside China have achieved successes by developing and designing products that focus on attracting user attention and maximizing interaction to maximize revenue from advertising, and this allows interference in the privacy of users. These ads can be used by people with criminal or hate narratives who can post videos on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook in a few minutes.
This article includes that ads can be made in a way that is more privacy-friendly. It means that these companies will get rid of the data registered in them. We as internet users should have more awareness about privacy, so that we do not rely on companies that protect us. It is clear that data privacy regulations in many countries have improved and that those who collect data will be subject to legal accountability.
Coordinating complaints for data privacy in Europe April 2019
This article talks about coordinating complaints related to data privacy in Europe, where civil society organizations in Europe play a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of the European Public Data Protection Regulation by using provisions to challenge the established practices of some of the largest technology companies in the world. The implementation of the law began in May 2018, and complaints efforts across Europe began to pay off. I think that it became clear from the article that due to the effectiveness of this law, the number of complaints increased.
The General Data Protection Regulation has given an important right to individuals to request a copy of the data collected on their own. In my view, I believe that law and regulations must be implemented in order to reduce violations, abuses and infringements on the privacy of individuals; Because this is a crime punishable by law.
